The Thai cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O’Cha, has officially approved of the sixth extension of the Emergency Decree in October as proposed by the CCSA at a Cabinet meeting today, September 29.
Following the announcement of the CCSA approval of the decree extension at the press conference yesterday, the CCSA then proposed the idea for the Thai cabinet to perform a final vote at the weekly cabinet meeting this morning.
The extension of the Emergency Decree will be effective from October 1st to the 31st. This is the sixth official extension since the decree was first implemented in April.
The cabinet believes that by extending the decree, Thailand would maintain its low cases of local transmission and its citizens would remain secured and safe against the Covid-19 coronavirus.
The extension does not relate to the political tensions and movements of the pro-democracy demonstrations in the country, according to the CCSA spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin.
