Director of Zoological Park Organization of Thailand murdered, suspect dead by suicide over missing deer case

Songkhla, Southern Thailand –

A Songkhla zoo veterinarian killed himself after he allegedly killed the director of The Zoological Park Organization of Thailand (ZPOT).

The ZPOT director Mr. Suriya Senpong was shot dead before noon today at the Songkhla Zoo while he was investigating a report of a missing rare deer.

It was reported that he had ordered the transfer of zoo officials while the investigation was being conducted.

The suspect was identified as the head of the Conservation and Research Office of the Songkhla Zoo, Phuvadon Suwanna.

Phuvadol was one of several officials who were under investigation for the missing deer case.

He was found dead at his accommodation at the zoo not long after. He fled after reportedly shooting Suriya at a meeting.

Phuvadon’s wife said her husband was very nervous when he was notified of his transfer order as part of the investigation.Police are continuing their investigation. The Minister of Environmental Resources is also involved in the ongoing case. The Pattaya News will provide more details as they are revealed.
