Bangkok-

A fifty-six-year-old man has been rescued after falling into an underground cable pit under construction in Yan Nawa this week.

The Bang Pongpang Police was notified of the incident on Wednesday night on Bang Pongpang Soi 41.

Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a 12 meter deep hole which is part of an under construction underground cable project.

The injured Thai male, aged 56 years old, whose name was not given, had sustained head injuries. He was weak after being stuck in the hole for roughly an hour. Rescue workers went down into the hole and pulled him up using a rope and pulley system and he was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

The construction project staff told police that the injured man had been driving a road sweeping vehicle when it got stuck on a portion of the pit. The man stepped out of the vehicle to investigate the stop and fell into the hole.
