Bangkok –

The first group of 120 tourists traveling under the ‘Special Tourist Visa’ (STV) from China is expected to arrive in Bangkok next Tuesday, October 20, the General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport confirmed yesterday.

Wing Commander Suthirawat Suwanawat stated that Suvarnabhumi Airport is collaborating with the Public Health Ministry to prepare for re-opening the country under strict health measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

All 120 tourists are departing from Guangzhou, China, and are required to have Covid-19 test screenings using the RT-PCS method as soon as they enter the Kingdom.

The General Manager told the Associated Press: “The limited number of Chinese tourists will be traveling to Bangkok under the STV visa in which only Covid-free individuals from low risk countries are allowed to visit Thailand. But we will also have them tested for infections once again following national health restrictions.”

The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Phiphat Ratchprakarn, further stated that the group of visitors coming to Bangkok next week is not the previous particular batch who had postponed their arrival in Phuket on October 8.

The previously proposed travelers are expected to visit Phuket by the end of October, after the vegetarian festival. A total of 120 people from the STV visa will be staying on the tourist island for roughly 30 days, Phiphat told the press.

The Pattaya News notes that, as is often the case with the plan to bring back tourists recently, the plan is subject to change.
