Political activist Ekachai Hongkawan, 45, was arrested at his house in the Ladprao District of Bangkok, and student activist Bunkueanun “Francis” Paothong, 20, has turned himself in at the Dusit Police Station this morning, October 16, following arrest warrants issued under the section 110 criminal code related to the Royal families.
Both activists were wanted by the police over alleged charges of violence against Her Majesty the Queen following alleged obstruction of the Royal motorcade at a mass pro-democracy protest on Wednesday, October 14.

They were seen by the authorities that they were among thousands of pro-democracy protesters who were marching to the Government House when the motorcade, carrying Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti and the Queen, was passing by Phitsanulok Road.
According to the Criminal Code, section 110, whoever commits or attempts to commit an act of violence against the Queen or Her liberty, the Heir-apparent or His liberty, or the Regent or his/her liberty, shall be punished with imprisonment for life or imprisonment of sixteen to twenty years.

Ekachai and Francis will be transferred and detained at the Border Patrol Police Region 1 in Khlong Luang District, Pathumthani province this afternoon for legal proceedings.
