Bangkok –

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-O’Cha has ordered the Royal Thai Police who is responsible for the regulatory activity of the severe state of emergency to consider revising its order regarding the broadcasting suspension of Thai media agencies as it has limited the fundamental right of the free press, according to his statement.

The Prime Minister stressed after the cabinet meeting today, October 20, that Thai media and journalism have played an important role in Thai society as they hold the power to create justice, creativity, and positive change for the country.

The role of the Thai mass media has always been monitoring, checking, and balancing power in the Thai government and society which create many benefits in the country’s progress for many years, according to the Prime Minister.

Therefore, he has ordered the Royal Thai Police and relevant agencies who are responsible for the suspension order to reconsider the order by principally scrutinizing the core value of free press.
