Ten Chinese nationals arrested in Sa Kaeo for allegedly illegally entering Thailand

Ten Chinese nationals have been arrested near the Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo allegedly after illegally entering Thailand.

General Chalermkiet Sirisomboon, the Deputy Commander from the Ta Phraya Special Unit told the press “Yesterday (October 19th) officers from the special unit have arrested ten Chinese nationals and one Thai national.”

“The Thai man was named by police as Likit Kandit, 46. All of the Chinese nationals are men age from 22 to 46.”

“They were arrested while they were traveling in an SUV on the Chachoengsao – Sakaeo Road in Baan Nong Yakaeo.”

“The Thai man told police that he received 2,000 baht for his driving services. The Chinese nationals failed to present legal documents to officers. They were also not cooperative in discussing who exactly they were, what they had been doing in Cambodia or why they wanted to illegally enter Thailand. The Thai man stated that did not know the details behind the overall smuggling operation but will be further interrogated.”

“They are facing charges of entering the Kingdom of Thailand without permission and failing to comply with the order of the emergency decree and Covid-19 protection measures.”

“The will be deported back to their country after an investigation.” The general concluded.
