Two Thai sisters arrested in Southern Thailand for allegedly operating online pajama shopping scam with a total worth of roughly 8 million baht

Southern Thailand –

Two Thai sisters, Kannikar Nuuchuay, 34, and Athitaya Nuuchuay, 28, were arrested in Southern Thailand today, October 22, after allegedly operating an online shopping scam under a fake pajama retailer on Facebook pages.

The sisters had allegedly opened five Facebook pages in June to sell fake pajamas online called “Pajamas by Shopping”, “Wholesale price pajamas”, “Pajamas by Shopping 2”, “Imported Pajamas Brands”, and “Imported Brandname Pajamas @ On Shopping”. They built their credibility by constantly posting pajamas pictures and live broadcasting on the pages to sell their products.

Many victims had filed complaints against the pages’ owners after their orders had not been received and had been postponed to an undefined date due to many reasons, according to the alleged scammers. The customers claimed they had transferred and lost about 8 million baht to the owners.

Officers from the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) had captured Kannikar in Surat Thani Province this morning and had caught Athitaya in Nakhon Si Thammarat later on the same day following an arrest warrants issued on September 11.

According to the police, Athitaya has reportedly confessed while her sister has refused any role in the alleged criminal action. They are detained at the CPPD for further interrogation and are facing charges of allegedly jointly defrauding customers and bringing false information into computer systems.

This is the second alleged pajama vendor rip off in less than a month on Thailand.
