Isolated heavy rain with strong winds triggered by typhoon ‘Molavae’ likely to occur in Thailand until this Friday

The Thai Meteorological Department has announced this morning, October 27, that isolated heavy rain with strong winds triggered by a typhoon called ‘Molavae’ over the middle South China Sea is likely to occur over the country, including Pattaya, from October 28th to the 30th.

The category 5 typhoon is reportedly moving West to make landfall over middle Vietnam by the 28th of October and will then be downgraded respectively while a westerly wind across the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is strengthening, causing isolated heavy rains with strong winds in the lower North, the Northeast, the East, the Central and the South of Thailand by tomorrow.

Areas to be affected are as follows:

October 28

Northeast: Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani

East: Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat

October 29-30

North: Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Sukhothai, Tak, and Kamphaengphet

Northeast: Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Mukdahan Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani

Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphanburi, Nakhon Pathom, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, and Bangkok and its vicinity

East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat

South: Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun

The wind and waves over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf will strengthen with 2-3 meters high with thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers while small boats are recommended to keep ashore.
