Former Bangkok bus ticket vendor arrested with 30 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine

A former Bangkok bus ticket vendor has been arrested with 32.22 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Bangkae.

Police revealed to the press this past weekend (October 30th) that they have arrested Mr. Amornthep ‘Joe’ Kodkam, 29, at a house in Lak Song. Seized from him were 32.22 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 1.59 grams of heroin.

The arrest came after police received a tip-off from what was described as a concerned citizen that Jo was selling drugs in nightclubs.

Police continued their investigation which led to the arrest of Amornthep on Friday, October 30th.

Amornthep told police that he used to work as a Bangkok bus ticket vendor. He started to sell drugs after he quit his prior occupation, stating that his salary as a bus ticket vendor was low and there was much more opportunity to earn a profit selling drugs. Amornthep has reportedly admitted to being guilty of the legal charges being pressed against him.

He is facing charges of illegal possession of Category 1 Drugs with intent to sell.

Police have also found that was he previously spent three years in prison ten years ago for possession of drugs.
