Former Thai national youth judo team member arrested in Bangkok over allegedly abusing and seriously injuring his mother

Bangkok –

A former Thailand national youth judo athlete, Photsawee “Jay” Thamronglarp, 36, was arrested last night, November 2, for allegedly abusing and injuring his mother while reportedly being under the influence of drugs.

Police officers from the Din Daeng police station were investigating the reported case of domestic violence following CCTV footage video posted on the internet on October 28, revealing a middle-aged woman, 58, being physically assaulted by her own son at the Sports and Culture Office where she was working as a civil officer.

The accused attacker was seen escaping the scene after his mother was knocked unconscious. Her colleagues then rushed her to a local hospital where she was discovered with a head injury, broken ribs, and several facial injuries as well as multiple bruises all over the body.

Official investigators began questioning witnesses and collecting evidence before eventually capturing the thirty-six-year-old son at his apartment in the middle of the night yesterday.

Initially, Photsawee reportedly admitted to abusing his mother during the official interrogation, claiming that he was overwhelmed with several financial problems that might have had triggered him to the assault unintentionally.

On the day of the incident, he was reportedly going to get his motorcycle from his mother and began furiously physically attacking her after he found out that his mother took the vehicle for driving without his permission.

Further investigation revealed that Photsawee was a former youth judo team member on the Thailand national team, He had been reportedly heavily addicted to drugs for about 10 years shortly after retiring from the national team and often injured his mother almost every day with drug-induced disorders.

The suspect was detained at the Din Daeng police station and initially charged with physical abuse to a parent, causing the parent to be seriously injured.
