Phetchaburi –
An alleged assassin, 22, was arrested yesterday, December 19, after reportedly shooting a hospital director from the Phra Chom Klao Hospital to death at his clinic in Phetchaburi province yesterday morning.
CCTV footage at the clinic captured the moment when an alleged shooter, who later was identified as Denphom Sangthong, reportedly arrived at the hospital in Mueang district at around 11:00 A.M., pretending to be a patient.
He then went back to his vehicle after a checkup, claiming to grab his wallet, and suddenly returned to the clinic with a gun before reportedly shooting Dr. Chumpol Dechaampai multiple times and fled the scene. The doctor was killed instantly.
A further investigation exposed that Denphom’s background allegedly involved drug abuse and mental conditions that were believed by the victim’s co-workers to be a trigger of the shocking incident.
According to Denphom’s family members and friends, he was allegedly unsatisfied with treatment at Phra Chom Klao public hospital as he expressed his anger on his Facebook account days before the incident. The actual reason for his anger was not known to them.
The suspect was captured at his apartment in Samut Songkhram at 7:00 P.M. and was taken for interrogation at Phetchaburi police station afterward. A police investigation is undergoing in order to identify the cause of the murder, including whether he was hired to commit murder.
