Four local cases of Covid-19 Coronavirus were discovered in Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Bangkok as of this morning, December 22.
The first and second cases involve a 39-year-old husband and a 37-year-old wife who run a mobile grocery truck business in Samut Prakan and Bangkok and routinely went to a shrimp market identified as the epicenter of the current breakout in Samut Sakhon for ingredients every morning.
According to the Nonthaburi Covid-19 Center, the couple reportedly traveled to the market daily at 9:00 A.M. for grocery supplies before driving along the Nonthaburi area and Ramintra-Nawamin area of the capital for selling fresh supplies on a mobile grocery truck.
They were driving on their scheduled route from Tuesday to Sunday and would have a rest at home on Mondays. Their route can be seen below.
Tuesday: Ruak temple in Bang Kruai district, Chotikarn temple, Kean temple, and Tuek temple in Nonthaburi
Wednesday: Soi Phin Thong via Central Rattanathibet route, make a U-turn and driving along the alley. Then enter Samornkoti Temple and drive through Klang Bang Sue temple before entering Jitmuangnon boxing and Nakhon In temple in the Bangkok-Nonthaburi area
Thursday: Ramindra Km.8, Suwanprasit temple, Soi Khao Khubon, and Soi Nawamin 27 in Bangkok
Friday: Bang Oi Chang temple in Bang Kruai district, Ruak temple, Chotikaram temple, and Tuek temple in Nonthaburi
Saturday: Suan Phak Road Soi 50 (Bang Kruai) and driving along train tracks, and leaving at Suan Phak (Rama 7)
Sunday: Serithai Soi 50 in Khubon road
The third case is an official working at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), located near Thammasat Rangsit University, director Narong Sirilertworrakul confirmed this morning.
The officer was not working at the NSTDA building until the 16th and 17th of December. The officer was reportedly having a high fever on the 17th and called for sick leave on the following day and stayed at their place all day outside the NSTDA and Thammasat Rangsit University.
The patient went to a local private hospital on the 19th and sought a Covid-19 test on the 20th. Their results proved positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus yesterday. The NSTDA was alerted of the infected officer by Pathum Thani public health authorities and have temporarily closed down the building from 22-24 December for a disease investigation.
A total of 8 close contacts were listed in a high-risk group and tested for Covid-19 at a local hospital while all connected moderate-and-low risk groups are advised to work from home and perform local quarantine for 14 days.
The fourth case was discovered in Bangkok and was the owner of a seafood restaurant near Krung Thon Buri BTS Station, who was reportedly traveling to the Mahachai market in Samut Sakhon for ingredients.
The owner, 49, sought a Covid-19 test on December 19th over concerns after visiting the shrimp market, where almost 1,000 people were confirmed having a positive test for the Covid-19. Her result yesterday also proved positive for the virus, being asymptomatic.
She is now being isolated and under treatment at a local hospital. Meanwhile, the restaurant announced its temporary closure from today and kindly asked their customers who visited the place from December 8th onwards to perform local quarantine and seek a Covid-19 test if possible.
According to her daughter, the owner had traveled to the shrimp market from 8th to 15th December and also visited Siam Square One in downtown Bangkok on December 14. She was working at the restaurant every day from the 8th to the 20th of December except Mondays.
Siam Square One, where thousands of people visited every day, continued to open today despite the announcement, meanwhile, a cafe at the shopping mall has temporarily closed and asked its employees to perform state quarantine for 14 days after the patient reportedly visited the place on December 14. The mall stated they conducted a through cleaning.
As of this afternoon, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration has confirmed a total of 16 local cases that are Thai nationals who are linked to Samut Sakhon. They are currently quarantined at local hospitals in Saraburi 3, Chachoengsao 1, Bangkok 5, Pathum Thani 2, Phetchaburi 1, Samut Prakan 2, Uttaradit 1, Nakhon Pathom 1.
