The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha, has categorized Covid-19 control measures into four zones according to the severity of the epidemic, rejecting a national lockdown.

All provinces are divided into Highly controlled areas, High-control areas, Under high surveillance areas, and Under surveillance areas.

Highly Controlled Areas– an area with many Covid-19 infected people in more than one certain area, currently is only Samut Sakhon.

There will be a temporary closure for non essential business establishments, prohibition of migrant workers from traveling in and out of the area, access control of vehicles and Thai people without affecting business trade and industry, a screening checkpoint and patrol police, and work-from-home policy. Time restrictions (curfews) are possible.

High Control Areas – An area where more than 10 people have been infected and an increasing number of infections is likely. The provinces are Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Bangkok (West side only)

All large gatherings are prohibited in orange-zoned provinces. Business establishments and factories, including workers’ residences, are able to remain open under strict Covid-19 restrictions. They are forced to temporarily close if found to not be following strict health measures under CCSA’s authorization. Migrant workers are not allowed to leave the area and will be closely monitored by patrol police.
