Pathum Thani –
More than seven million pieces of illegal medical gloves along with a group of undocumented migrant workers were found at a commercial building in Pathum Thani province yesterday, December 26.
The Crime Suppression Division, led by Police Commander Suwat Sangnum, had raided the three-story commercial building at Lam Luk Ka district, following a police investigation that there was a company located inside the building that was producing and illegally selling medical types of equipment, including medical gloves.
Upon arrival, a 42-year-old alleged Chinese company owner, Luk Fei, had presented himself to the authorities. Approximately 11 Cambodian workers were also seen packing medical gloves in boxes, ready to be shipped.
A total of seven million pieces of disposable gloves were confiscated and to be examined whether they were hygienically qualified in terms of medical standards. Initial investigation also revealed that both employer and employees were found to be smuggled into the kingdom without legal permission.
The Police Commander told the press that the search and arrest are due to the current spread of Covid-19 as medical types of equipment, particularly gloves and facial masks, are in high demand, causing many swindlers to take advantage of their own benefits and by selling used or unstandardized medical items nationally and internationally.
