Rayong Governor announces 77 new cases of Covid-19, warns against drinking and gathering on beaches

The Rayong Governor, Channa Iamsang, announced 77 new cases of Covid-19 in Rayong today along with several other announcements.

This brings the total number of cases in the province to 279, with one death, a 45-year-old-man with multiple prior health conditions. Rayong has been performing targeted tracing and testing and so far have tested 4,105 people associated with the current cluster that originally came from a group of people allegedly gambling illegally.

The province is under highly controlled measures and as a result has seen many restrictions and closure measures, however, restaurants may open but not sell alcohol the governor said. He also stated that restaurants must have social distancing measures and strict precautions. Hair salons are also allowed to open with precautions. Public transportation continues to operate with strict precautions.

The Governor also warned people against drinking and gathering on beaches, which remain open. He said people must socially distance on beaches and law enforcement would be stopping anyone planning to throw beach parties for New Years.
