Rayong, Thailand-

The Rayong Governor has announced additional measures to help control the Covid-19 coronavirus cluster of infections in the province today, January 4th, 2021.

The Governor of Rayong, Channa Iamsang, made the announcements including some new orders which took effect from yesterday, January 3rd, 2021

The new orders include:

-Beaches must be closed from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM to the public with the exception of local fishermen who rely on the beach for their income. There is to be no eating, drinking, or socializing on the beaches.

-Natural attractions and places where people gather are closed from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM as well. Strict rules of no eating, drinking, or socializing.

-Temporary markets, flea markets, pop-up markets, etc are all closed until further notice. Licensed permanent markets may be open but must have strict Covid-19 measures and only open for essential items like food.

-Restaurants for dining in-store may be open, but no alcohol sales in Rayong at restaurants.

-Golf courses, sports grounds, public parks, shooting ranges, fishing ponds, music practice rooms, amulet centers are also now closed.

-Beauty salons for haircuts only may be open, but no service should take over two hours and no lines or wait time.

-Pet groomers, grocery stores, convenience stores, retail stores, and supermarkets/drug stores are open with Covid-19 controls.

Additionally, the Rayong Governor has also stated that the province has a total of 428 cases and is close to running out of hospital beds and is working on field hospitals. The Pattaya News notes, however, that this is not due to seriously ill or sick people but rather due to a policy that even asymptomatic patients must stay in a hospital or quarantine area until they are fully clear of the virus and may not self isolate at home. The Governor has said the vast majority of patients are asymptomatic in Rayong.
