RECAP: Thailand discovers 132 domestic infections among 157 new Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours

National –

A total of 132 domestic infections among 157 new Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours were announced this morning, January 13th, at the daily brief announcement by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Among the domestic cases, 90 infections were discovered in Samut Sakhon, Bangkok 24, Samut Prakan 15, Chonburi 9, Phetchaburi 4, Ang Thong 3, Chiang Mai 2, Nonthaburi 2, Pathum Thani 2, Samut Songkram 1, Phitsanulok 1, Trang 1, Nong Khai 1.

The other 42 infected patients were found during proactive health screening by the provincial public health office, particularly in Pathum Thani 13, Rayong 12, Samut Sakhon 10, Chonburi 5, and Samut Prakan 2.

42 of the 132 cases today were migrant workers who are in hard quarantined dormitories and migrant camps and were not exposed to the general public. Thailand has restricted access to multiple migrant worker related living accomodations that have had outbreaks as a precaution, mostly in Samut Sakhon.

As of this morning, there are reported infections in 60 provinces across the country since the second round of infections of the virus outbreak on December 15th. About 10 provinces in a red-coded color have more than 50 infections, 12 in an orange-coded color have between 11 to 50 infections, 38 in a yellow-coded color with one to 10 infections, and 17 provinces in white with no cases. One new province recorded today with a new case is Phitsanulok.

Thailand now has a cumulative number of cases of 10,991 confirmed patients with 3,981 active cases.

The CCSA said the decline in numbers reflect better tracking and tracing and show that the control measures in highly controlled provinces are working.
