RECAP: CCSA announces 364 domestic infections among 374 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in past 24 hours, majority in Samut Sakhon

National –

Thailand discovered 364 domestic infections among a total of 374 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesman Taweeslip Visanuyothin announced at a press briefing today, January 17th.

43 of the domestic cases were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 24, Bangkok 10, Khon Kaen 2, Nonthaburi 2, Ang Thong 2, Suphan Buri 1, Ayutthaya 1, and Tak 1.

The other 321 infections were found in Samut Sakhon with 311, Phatthalung 3, Rayong 2, Trang 2, Chonburi 1, Prachiburi 1, and Samut Prakan 1 during active case findings of public health officials in both Thai and migrant workers. These are primarily from “quarantined” migrant worker communities that don’t have widespread exposure to the general population.

All of the infections found in active case finding are currently in strict state quarantine at the provided areas under public health supervision with no exposure to the general public, according to the CCSA. This means only 43 cases were locally transmitted today in Thailand.

As of today, new infections were discovered in Phatthalung province, marking 16 provinces in white with no cases, according to the map above. 10 provinces in a red-coded color have more than 50 infections, 14 in an orange-coded color have between 11 to 50 infections, and 37 in a yellow-colored color with one to 10 infections.
