RECAP: Thailand finds 167 domestic infections among 175 new Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours

Thailand reported 167 domestic infections among 175 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced this morning, February 12th.

About 120 out of 167 domestic cases were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 60 and Pathum Thani with 60 during a proactive approach in major factories and local communities, particularly in migrant workers’ dormitories. All of them are now at provincial state quarantine and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.

Pathum Thani has now ordered the closure of two markets in the Thayaburi district for 5 days from today after a number of infections of proactive cases were discovered to be connected to the places. Both markets will be sterilized and must be approved infection-free by the provincial public health administration before the reopening.

The other 47 infections were hospital/contact tracing cases that were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 35, Bangkok with 9, Chonburi with 1 (We wrote a separate article on this), Samut Songkram with 1, and Nonthaburi with 1. All of the patients are now isolated at local hospitals for treatment.

As of today, 441 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 24,279 cases with 20,210 recoveries and a total of 80 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
