RECAP: Thailand reports 168 domestic infections among 175 new Covid-19 daily cases in past 24 hours, with vast majority in Pathum Thani and Samut Sakhon

Thailand discovered 168 domestic infections among 175 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin announced this morning, February 17th.

About 114 domestic cases were found in Pathum Thani with 74, Samut Sakhon with 39, and Bangkok with 1 during proactive approaches in local communities, particularly in local factories, markets, and migrant workers dormitories. The patients are both Thai and Myanmar nationals. All of them are now at provincial state quarantine and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities.

The other 54 infections were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 34, Pathum Thani with 8, Bangkok with 4, Nakhon Ratchasima with 2, Tak with 1, Suphan Buri with 1, Nakhon Pathom with 1, Ayutthaya with 1, Saraburi with 1, and Ang Thong with 1. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment and most of them are asymptomatic, according to the spokesperson.

The infection in Suphanburi is a Bulgarian national who was staying in the country for some time and had been traveling to many provinces. His timeline is currently being investigated. He was found as he had taken a test to be able to fly out of the country and tested positive, although is asymptomatic.

As of today, 680 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 24,786 cases with 23,583 recoveries and a total of 82 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
