A local firefighter was reportedly injured after a fire engulfed a plastics manufacturing factory in the Bang Pu district of Samut Prakan province yesterday afternoon, February 19th.
A team of Bang Pu firefighters along with 15 water trucks arrived at the scene after a fire with billowing clouds of thick smoke engulfed the factory shortly after a loud explosion was heard at around 12:30 PM.
The fire had reportedly quickly spread across 3,200 square meters of the factory area when the factory owner and his employees failed to extinguish the fire and called the local fire authorities for immediate help.
The crew spent more than 3 hours to successfully put out the fire, which completely destroyed the factory and the plastics and related supplements inside. One firefighter was reportedly injured during the rescue operation and was rushed to a local hospital afterward.
According to an employee, it was believed that a short-circuit inside the factory had triggered the fire while a group of workers was working, causing the fire outbreak which spread quickly and became beyond control.
The local police are investigating the damage and the cause of the fire. The damage has yet to be estimated, according to the police.
