Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha offered to be the first person in Thailand to get vaccinated for the Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccine shot, according to his statement at the CCSA meeting yesterday, February 22nd.
The Prime Minister will also be present at Suvannabhumi Airport upon the arrival of the first lot of Covid-19 vaccine this Wednesday, February 22nd in the morning to ensure that the first lot of vaccines have safely arrived in Thailand.
Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul further stated that the Prime Minister personally told him that if everything is ready and approved under various rules and regulations, he would like to be the first to get vaccinated to build confidence among Thai people.
Anutin told reporters: “The vaccine management committee would carefully consider if the Prime Minister was suitable for the injection. We need to find the best way to keep the Prime Minister vaccinated safely because this would reflect the confidence of the country and the people.”
When being asked if the vaccination was truly suitable for the Prime Minister as he was over 60 years old, the Minister said that the vaccine management committee would consider this issue as well. If it was claimed to be unsafe, then another company’s vaccination would be introduced to the Prime Minister.
