Thailand discovered 71 domestic infections among 93 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported this morning, February 24th.
About 59 local infections were walk-in/hospital cases that were discovered in Samut Sakhon with 51, Ayutthaya with 5, Bangkok with 2, and Pathum Thani with 1. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment under the supervision of public health authorities. A hospital case includes those found through contact tracing.
The other 12 infections were reported during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, and migrant workers dormitories, in Pathum Thani with 6, Samut Sakhon with 5, and Nonthaburi with 1. Most of them were asymptomatic. All of them are now isolated at provincial state quarantines and field hospitals.
As of this morning, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha, along with Thai public health officials and acting Chinese ambassador Yang Xin, has welcomed the 200,000 shots of Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccine shipment at Suvarnabhumi Airport, shipped via Thai Airways cargo flight TG675, under the project “Covid-19 vaccination: Returning Smiles to Thailand”.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister also thanked officials from the Ministry of Public Health and all related departments who were working through all procedures in transporting the vaccines safely and successfully. He also thanked the Chinese government for sending out the first lot to Thailand this month.
All of the vaccines will be stored at the DKSH’s Covid-19 vaccine storage in the Bangna district before being distributed to 13 prioritized provinces, including Chonburi, by health officials.
