First 1,100 doses of Covid -19 vaccine arrive in Pattaya area, vaccinations begin

Pattaya, Banglamung, Chonburi-

The first 1,100 doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Banglamung (Pattaya area) this morning. The Banglamung District Chief and medical staffers received the first doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine in the local Pattaya area.

At the Banglamung Hospital this morning (March 1st), the Banglamung District Chief Mr. Amnart Jaroensri, the Deputy Director of Banglamung Hospital Doctor Chanchai Limthongjaroen and medical staffers aged not more than 60 were inoculated, especially those who work directly with Covid-19 patients.

The Chonburi Public Health Office has provided 1,100 doses which are being inoculated to medical staffers as first priority and to raise confidence in the local community.

The Banglamung District Chief told The Pattaya News, “I feel like normal after being injected with the Covid-19 after 30 minutes. There were no other symptoms or side effects. I hope by me taking the vaccine it will build confidence in the vaccines in other local residents.”

Doctor Chanchai explained to The Pattaya News, “The Sinovac injection will be considered for people who have diabetes and are aged between 18 -59.”

“They can register for the vaccine on the application ‘หมอพร้อม’ (Mor Prompt) or contact the Banglamung Hospital at 038-411 -551.” Doctor Chanchai concluded.

The Pattaya News notes that registering for getting a vaccine is open at local hospitals, including for foreigners, but that the timelines to when one will get vaccinated are not estimated or given at the time of registration.

Chonburi, with Pattaya specifically, is considered a high priority for vaccinations due to the importance of the economy and tourism to Thailand overall.

The plan is to vaccinate all medical staff, the most vulnerable with prior health issues, and tourism workers as priority groups. The hope is that by vaccinating tourism-related staff as a high priority this will speed up the process to bring back foreign tourists to Thailand and Pattaya.
