Total of 32 groups of crowd control police to be deployed at three pro-democracy protests around Bangkok tomorrow

Bangkok –

Pro-democracy group “Free Youth” has announced another gathering this Saturday, March 6th, at the Ladprao intersection of the capital at around 5:00 P.M. before planning to march to the Criminal Court, claiming to seek true ‘justice’ and ‘democracy’.

The next leaderless protest will be staged tomorrow after the majority of pro-democracy activists have democratically voted on Free People’s social media platform. Another two pro-democracy protests will also be planned by ‘Progressive Red’ and ‘Anti-dictatorship Vacation’ at the 11th Infantry Regiment and the Democracy Monument, respectively.

Meanwhile, Bangkok police told the press that about 32 groups of crowd control police officers will be deployed to maintain peace and order at each protest site. The deployment of forces will be varied according to the situation and the number of demonstrators in each site, according to Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Pakapong Pongpetra.

The chief stated: “The biggest concern is the gathering at the Ladprao Intersection because it will be a leaderless protest. Due to the previous violent clash with the authorities at the First Infantry Regiment, the officers, therefore, need to pay close attention to the situation at this site.”

“We will make sure every law enforcement is implemented to maintain peace and order tomorrow and all forces will be ready to monitor the situation to prevent violence among the protesters immediately.”
