Thailand reported 67 domestic infections out of a total of 81 new Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Panprapa Yongtrakul announced at the press briefing this morning, March 12th.
The majority of local infections were found during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, and migrant worker’s dormitories in Samut Sakhon with 21, Pathum Thani with 13, and Tak with 3. Most of them are asymptomatic. They are being isolated at local and field hospitals under the supervision of public health authorities, according to the reports.
The other 30 cases were walk-in/hospital cases, including contact tracing, that were reported in Samut Prakan with 14, Pathum Thani with 7, Bangkok with 5, Phetchaburi with 2, and Tak with 2. Most of them are asymptomatic. All of the patients are now isolated at local and field hospitals for treatment.
As of today, 54 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 26,598 cases with 26,000 recoveries and a total of 85 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Regarding the Songkran festival and holiday, the assistant spokesperson said the CCSA special committee will be initially discussing how the major festival will be held next Wednesday, March 17th. The conclusion will then be proposed for approval at a big CCSA meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha, next Friday, March 19th.
