Another lot of one million doses of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine are scheduled to arrive in Thailand on April 10th, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed to the public yesterday, April 5th.
Moreover, the Chinese Sinovac company has agreed to sell an additional 500,000 shots of the vaccines for 15 USD/dose to the Thai government. The shots are expected to arrive in Thailand around April 19th and 20th while the government is waiting for AstraZeneca’s vaccines that are scheduled to arrive in June, according to his statement.
Anutin further stated that Bangkok public health authorities have now re-adjusted the area for vaccinations due to the rising number of Covid-19 infections from new clusters in the Thonglor area. The vaccinations will now be distributed to employees working in entertainment venues and households in the particular area.
“We will make sure that everything goes step by step according to the plan. We urge the public not to worry as the vaccinations will eventually be sufficient to cover everyone in the country. We also have medical volunteers to survey and give advice on vaccinations for people,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Bangkok governor Asawin Kwanmuang paid a visit to the Wattana area to inspect the vaccine infection procedure for the high-risk people who are working at entertainment venues following a new cluster in Bangkok.
About 4,200 shots of Covid-19 vaccinations will be allocated to 2,100 high-risk people, whose ages are between 18 to 59 years old, in a certain area of the capital. As of today, a total of 300 people have been vaccinated at the Wattana District Office under the surveillance of the Thonglor police station.
Additionally, two mobile medical units are also provided to health screen and perform the swab detection test against risk groups who were residing and working in the Wattana and Klong Toey area.
