RECAP: Thailand finds 245 domestic infections among 250 new Covid-19 daily cases, with vast majority in Bangkok from entertainment venue cluster

Thailand discovered 245 domestic infections among a total of 250 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced this morning, April 6th.

The majority of 155 local infections were reported during proactive case finding in local communities, particularly in local markets, factories, dormitories, and entertainment venues in Bangkok with 119, Narathiwat with 30, Chonburi with 3, Sa Kaeo with 2, and Samut Prakan with 1.

The other 90 cases were walk-in/hospital cases, including contact tracing, that were found in Bangkok with 37, Samut Prakan with 19, Chonburi with 15 (However, the Chonburi authorities recently confirmed with the latest cases of 23 here as the CCSA has already cut the results earlier), Samut Sakhon with 7, Pathum Thani with 2, Chiang Mai with 2, Tak with 1, Ayutthaya with 1, Nonthaburi with 1, Lopburi with 1, Kanchanaburi with 1, Nakhon Pathom with 1, Chaiyaphom with 1, and Prachin Buri with 1.

Yesterday night, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced the closure of all entertainment venues in Khlong Toei, Watthana, and the Bang Khae districts until at least April 19th, following a rising number of infections on new clusters in Bangkok primarily traced to nightlife and entertainment venues.

As of today, 108 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 29,571 cases with 27,948 recoveries and a total of 94 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
