Thailand reported 1,579 domestic infections among a total of 1,583 new, confirmed Covid-19 cases with 15 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, which is declining from the past several days, CCSA assistant spokesperson Panprapa Yongtrakul announced this morning, April 30th.
The fatalities were 9 men and 6 women from Bangkok (9), Chonburi (1), Pattalung (1), Surat Thani (1), Nakhon Pathom (1), Ratchaburi (1), and Prachuap Khiri Khan (1). Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, hyperlipidemia, past strokes, chronic lung disease, and chronic liver disease.
Three of them were bedridden patients and two of them refused to expose their health conditions.
Regarding domestic infections, the first group of 417 local infections was discovered in Bangkok. Nine of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, 26 were from community markets and villages, 146 were from being in close contact with confirmed infected patients, and the other 236 infections were connected to other risky places.
The second group includes 305 cases that were reported in Bangkok’s vicinity. 13 of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, 16 were from community markets and villages, 175 were from being close contact with confirmed infected patients, and the other 101 cases were connected to other risky places.
The last group includes 857 domestic infections that were found in other provinces. 14 of them were connected to entertainment venues, 29 were from community markets and villages, 559 were from being in close contact with confirmed infected patients, and 255 of them were connected to other risky places. The majority of the group was discovered in Chonburi with 151, followed by Samut Prakan with 138, Chiang Mai with 66, and Nonthaburi with 50.
CCSA spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin stated that Bangkok remained the worst city with the most infections with more than 12,005 cases, plus 417 new cases today, reported since the beginning of April. Regarding the dine-in service restriction in “dark red zones” effective tomorrow, May 1st, he said that the measure was acted according to the statistics which pointed out that the majority of the infections were from dining places.
As of today, 860 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 65,153 cases with 36,254 recoveries and a total of 203 deaths since the start of the pandemic. About 16,035 people received their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccination and another 50,933 people received their second shot yesterday, marking a total number of 1,411,614 vaccinated people in Thailand who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
