The Chinese Embassy of Bangkok announced an online statement today, May 20th, that another 1.5 million doses of Sinovac vaccines from the People’s Republic of China have arrived in Thailand during the early hours of this morning.
The status read: “On May 20th, the Sinovac vaccines that the Thai government purchased in the amount of 1.5 million doses have arrived in Bangkok. Currently, China has provided and funded eight batches of Covid-19 vaccines for Thailand so far. The Chinese vaccines will help Thai people fight against the current outbreak of Covid-19. We support Thailand’s fight against the virus.”
Dr. Withoon Danwiboon, M.D., Managing Director of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), added that the GPO has received a total of six million Sinovac vaccines since the first lot arrived in February. Another three million batches are also scheduled to arrive by the end of June.
“Currently, a total of 60 million shots of Sinovac vaccines have been inoculated in 45 countries around the world and are ranked the second most-used Covid vaccine in the world, topped only by Pfizer.” Withoon concluded.
