The Japan Government announced yesterday, May 19th, entry bans of all foreign nationals who have visited Thailand and six other countries to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus in its country.
The other six countries are Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Saint Lucia, East Timor, and Mongolia, marking a total of 152 countries and regions being denied entry to Japan. The measure will be effective this Friday onwards, May 21st.
Foreign travelers who have been to any of those countries within 14 days of arrival, will not be allowed to enter Japan, with the exception of permanent residents, their families, and others with special circumstances. Japanese citizens are not subject to the measure.
The statement has been made after Thailand is facing a serious outbreak of the Coronavirus and the rapidly increasing accumulative number of infections daily.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha stated during the 26th International Conference on The Future of Asia, hosted by Japanese media company Nikkei Inc, today that the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is under strict surveillance and control of the Thai government due to the strong public health system.
He stated: “We have a number of public healthcare personnel nationwide, including village health volunteers (VHV). The government has also received cooperation from all people who strictly comply with the disease control measures.”
“Thailand’s Public Health Ministry will continue to proactively approach new infections and provide Covid-19 treatments for infected patients daily. Moreover, vaccine inoculation will be actively conducted to reach at least 70 percent of the popularity by the end of this year. Foreigners are also able to receive the vaccination.”
“As soon as a large group of people is vaccinated by June according to the plan, we believe that the Covid-19 situation will gradually become better.” The PM concluded.
