RECAP: Thailand announces 3,052 new domestic Covid-19 cases, 605 in prisons, and 24 additional deaths

Thailand reported 2,406 new Covid-19 domestic infections and 605 confirmed cases at prisons as well as 41 imported cases, marking a total of 3,052 daily infections, with 24 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

Among the local 2,406 new domestic cases, excluding the cases at the prisons, the highest number of infections listed by provinces was discovered in Bangkok with 1,191,  Phetchaburi with 437, Nonthaburi with 99, and Samut Prakan with 94.

The fatalities were 12 men and 12 women from Bangkok (13), Samut Prakan (3), Chiang Mai and Ratchaburi (2, 2), Nonthaburi, Surat Thani, Yasothorn, and Nakhon Nayou.(1, 1, 1, 1).

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, chronic kidney disease, chronic lung disease, heart disease, obesity, cancer, and strokes.

One of them was pregnant. Seven of them refused to expose their health conditions.

122,962 people got their first vaccination shot yesterday with 40,331 getting their second, making a total of 2,811,549 people who have been vaccinated in Thailand with at least one dose against Covid-19 so far.

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 71 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today, May 22nd, which is a major fall in cases from having 127 yesterday, driven by increased testing and a cluster at a factory and migrant worker camp dormitory for the factory in a nearby district.
