Bangkok –

Three pro-democracy activists, Arnon Nampa, Panupong “Mike Rayong” Jadnok, and Chukiat “Justin” Saengwong, have been granted bail by the Criminal Court today, June 1st, after being detained earlier this year at Bangkok Remand Prison over lese mejeste charges.

All three of them were facing Section 112 charges since February and March after participating and allegedly performing offensive actions related to the royal institution at an overnight pro-democracy demonstration at the Thammasat University in September 2020.

Justin was the first to be temporarily released from Bangkok Remand Prison this morning, followed by Arnon and Mike this afternoon with a surety of 200,000 baht each. Both Mike and Arnon will be released from Thammasat University where they have just recovered from Covid-19 infections.

Similar to other released activists, all three of them must refrain from participating in any activities, organizing or lead any protests, and hosting any speeches that are offensive to the royal institution nor leave the country without the court’s permission.

All of them have reportedly agreed to the conditions prior to the release.

It is worth noting that all of the prominent protest leaders in the pro-democracy movement, namely Arnon Nampa, Panupong “Mike Rayong” Jadnok; Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak; Chaiamorn “Ammy the Bottom Blues” Kaewwiboonpan; Panusaya “Rung” Sithijirawattanakul; Jatupat “Pai Daodin” Boonpattararaksa; Somyot Pruksakasemsuk, have all been released.

The protesters are reportedly anticipating their next move towards their core demands, including the resignation of the Prime Minister, the dissolution of parliament, and the reform of the countries highest institution. So far, all released have followed the conditions of their bail.
