Bangkok –

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha today, June 7th, has officially signed approval to purchase 25 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines and an 8 million additional supply of the Sinovac vaccines.

The additional vaccine allocations from both agencies would be fulfilled as part of the accumulative number of 100 million vaccine supply in Thailand as planned. However, the details and the mutual agreement must be conducted between the Public Health Ministry and the manufacturers prior to the trading.

“Both parties must mutually agree on the prices and the period of the vaccine delivery first. Then, the government will purchase and distribute the vaccine across the country. The amount of the distribution will be different in each area, based on the infection situation and the remaining vaccine supplies each month,” The Prime Minister stated.

Meanwhile, the Private Hospital Association (PHA) this afternoon has announced the purchase price for the Moderna vaccine as an alternative vaccine at 1,900 baht per shot, estimated to be available at private hospitals by this October.

A price of 3,800 baht is the set price for the complete vaccination, external service fees included, according to the Association.

The purchasing process of Moderna Covid-19 vaccines will be through the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO). The delivery schedule remained as around October as initially planned.
