Thai Government reports 416,847 people nationwide received a Covid-19 shot on the first day of mass vaccination kick-off, vaccine registration for foreign seniors available now

National –

A total number of 416,847 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines on the first day of the mass inoculation program yesterday, June 7th, as a part of the “National Agenda”, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health reported this morning, June 8th.

Of that, 61,149 people had received their first shot with a Sinovac vaccine and 327,723 people had their first shot with AstraZeneca, marking a total of 388,872 people who received the first doses.

23,339 people had their second shots with a Sinovac vaccine and a 2nd dose was given to 4,636 people with AstraZeneca, marking a total of 27,975 people.

Most of the vaccinated people yesterday were seniors over 60 years of age and people suffering from seven chronic diseases who were registered on the “Mor Prompt” online application and local registration applications and were being assisted at 986 vaccination centers across the country. Mor is the Thai word for doctor.

The Ministry of Public Health, yesterday, also launched thailandintervac.com for foreign nationals over 60 years old or suffering from seven underlying conditions (Severe chronic respiratory diseases, coronary artery disease, 5th stage of chronic kidney disease, stroke, cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, diabetes, and obesity) to register for the first shot of vaccination.

The reservation for the vaccine registration begins on the website at 12:00 hrs. and ends at 15:00 hrs. daily according to the Ministry.

TPN media notes that reports about the website were mixed and that a registration is no guarantee of an exact time to get a vaccine for a foreigner. There were also reports of disconnects between hospitals and the application. However, many foreigners also stated online they were able to register without a major issue.
