TAT Phuket confident for island’s readiness to effectively proceed with Phuket Sandbox in July

Phuket –

The director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Phuket office, said today that the TAT is confident about the province’s readiness to proceed with the Phuket Sandbox project on July 1st.

TAT Phuket Director Nantasiri Ranasiri told the Associated Press today, June 9th, that the TAT Phuket office had attended meetings with related departments in the area to proceed with the island reopening scheme and to strictly follow the guidelines as a preparation before the official launch of the tourism program will be implemented by the Center for Economic Situation Administration (CESA).

The TAT also believed that the Phuket Sandbox would be put into effect as scheduled as the number of new infections has reported either 0 cases on some recent days or the same number for several days in a row, proving that health measures in Phuket have been strengthened.

“We believed that the health screening for both Thais and foreigners who are fully vaccinated must be standardized prior to the project launch. All incoming tourists would also be tested for Covid-19 infection before entering the island. These are strict measures to build confidence among tourists and local residents before the official implementation of the Phuket Sandbox plan next month,” the Director stated.

Meanwhile, the TAT has conducted public relations and introduced the program among major tour operators from countries with low-to-medium risk groups, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and other European countries, stressing that Phuket has prepared to welcome vaccinated tourists again to enjoy the beauty of nature under the campaign ‘Visit Thailand, Even More Amazing Than Ever.’

The Southern Thai Hotels Association, along with the Phuket Tourism Business Association, had also organized training for hospitality entrepreneurs to provide safety and hygiene for customers as a good host to tour operators in order to build confidence for foreign tourists once the Phuket Sandbox is officially launched.
