Phetchabun –
Three people were killed and one was injured in a shocking car accident during the rain on a slippery road in the Nong Phai District of Phetchabun Province, yesterday, June 13th.
Officers from the Na Chaliang Police Station along with medical staff and volunteers arrived at the scene after being alerted of the fatal incident involving two vehicles on the Saraburi-Lom Sak Road.
A brown sedan with a Bangkok license plate was found at the scene in a heavily damaged condition. Two people, a 29-year-old driver from Bangkok and a 31-year-old passenger from Songkhla, were already found dead inside the vehicle upon police arrival.
A red BMW Z4 sedan was also spotted nearby, totaled in the wreck. Two injured people, a 51-year-old male, and an 18-year-old female from Bangkok were found in the remains of the vehicle. They were rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance. However, the male patient was reportedly in a critical condition upon arrival at the hospital and he was pronounced dead during surgery.
According to a witness, whose name was withheld at his request, he spotted the open-top red sports sedan (despite on and off rain) overtaking his vehicle and many cars in front of him with a noticeable speed. Shortly after he reached the scene of the incident, the car reportedly careened across a traffic island in the middle of the road before colliding with the other vehicle.
An initial police investigation revealed that the BMW sedan was driving from Khao Kho and heading to Bangkok. The vehicle was assumed to be driving at high speed on a slippery road as it was also constantly raining at the time of the incident, causing the vehicle to crash across the island and collide with a Suzuki sedan that was reportedly heading to Phetchabun.
An hour prior to the deadly accident, the female passenger of the sports sedan was conducting a 5-minute live stream on their way back from Khao Kho to Bangkok on her social media platforms. The vehicle was recorded overtaking multiple cars during the bad weather conditions due to the rain. She said that she was having fun and was also heard asking the driver to accelerate the vehicle. People on social media reportedly warned her multiple times to be careful and slow down.
