Worker movement following construction site closures causes Covid-19 infections to rise in 32 provinces nationwide, Thailand CCSA reports

The movement of workers after the closure order of construction camps in 10 Thai provinces has caused a number of infections in 32 provinces nationwide, according to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan revealed yesterday, July 1st, that the new number of infections that had been reported in 71 provinces nationwide in the past week has indicated that there has been a major traveling record from Bangkok and its vicinity to other parts of Thailand, causing the total number of Covid-19 infections to reach 32 provinces – including 20 northern provinces, 23 central regions, 84 northeastern regions, and 2 southern provinces.

Provincial authorities, therefore, have to issue strict announcements to prevent the domestic spread of the virus, particularly in Phrae, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Lampang, Uttaradit, Sakon Nakhon, Kalasin, Phetchabun, Loei, Phitsanulok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Surin, Maha Sarakham, and many more.

The provinces have announced to the public and related agencies to conduct the strictest surveillance as there might be more people who were working in high-risk areas to return to their hometowns after the restriction orders.

Those who were traveling from 10 high-risk provinces to other areas in Thailand are required to perform quarantine or self-isolation as they could possibly be considered as high-risk groups. They are also advised not to participate in any large gatherings and strictly follow public health measures, the assistant spokesperson added.
