Thailand discovered a total of 9,276 daily Covid-19 infections with 72 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, breaking its new highest record of daily infections since the first outbreak, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced today, July 9th.
Of the new cases, 6,324 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,651 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 278 were from prisons, and the remaining 23 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,116, followed by Samut Sakhon with 544, Samut Prakan with 437, Lop Buri with 341, Chonburi with 317, and Ayutthaya with 265.
A total number of 356,378 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 305,925 people had received their first shot and 50,453 people had received their second shots.
As of today, 3,928 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 317,506 cases with 240,077 recoveries and a total of 2,534 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the CCSA also announced the readjustment plan of the Covid-19 rollout in Thailand. 80 percent of the vaccine supply will be allocated in Bangkok, prioritizing seniors aged 60 and over and people suffering from seven underlying health conditions.
The amount of Pfizer vaccines donated by the United Stated will be allocated to medical first responders and health workers as a booster dose, seniors aged 60 and over, and people suffering from seven underlying conditions, foreigners in Thailand (prioritizing seniors and people with conditions), and those who are required to receive vaccinations before going abroad (student, athletes, and diplomatic personnel).
A total of 1.05 million doses of AstraZeneca received from Japan will be allocated to elders aged 60 and over and people living with seven underlying conditions, foreign nationals in Thailand (prioritizing seniors and people with conditions), and those who are required to receive vaccinations before going abroad (student, athletes, and diplomatic personnel).
The meeting also approved another Emergency Decree extension for two months, from August 1st to September 30th. However, the official announcement and final decision (nearly certain to be approved) will be made following the Cabinet meeting next Tuesday.
