Thailand discovered a total of 9,692 daily Covid-19 infections with 67 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, July 16th.
The fatalities were 34 men and 33 women from Bangkok (33), Samut Prakan (5), Pathum Thani (5), Nakhon Nayok (2), Nakhon Pathom (2), Nakhon Ratchasima (2), Nakhon Sawan (2), Prachuap Khiri Khan (2), Yala (2), Songkhla (2), Samut Sakhon (2), Chiang Rai (1), Phetchaburi (1), Trat (1), Narathiwas (1), Roi Et (1), Sakhon Nakhon (1), Amnat Charoen (1), and Udon Thani (1). The age range was between 27 and 104 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, obesity, stroke, and cancer. Eight of the fatalities did not reportedly have any health conditions.
Of the new cases, 6,733 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,329 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 615 were from prisons, and the remaining 15 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,195, followed by Samut Sakhon with 653, Samut Pakhan with 607, Chonburi with 530, Nonthaburi with 456, and Chachoengsao with 374.
A total number of 289,998 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 261,809 people had received their first shot and 28,189 people had received their second shots.
As of today, 5,730 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 381,907 cases with 271,857 recoveries and a total of 3,099 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Additionally, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Antigen test kits for Covid-19 home testing. The kits would be distributed and available for public purchase today at hospitals, public health government agencies, and pharmacies/drug stores with pharmacists. Supply, however, may vary based on location and one should check well in advance.
The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration also stated at the daily press briefing that they are considering more restrictions to limit public travelings and other lockdown measures, including more business closures, as the number of infections surges nationwide. They did not yet mention more details and when this could take place, only a consideration.
