Thailand discovered a total of 13,002 daily Covid-19 infections with 108 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan reported today, July 21st.
The fatalities were 59 men and 49 women from Bangkok (40), Samut Sakhon (13), Songkhla (7), Yala (6), Nakhon Pathom (4), Pathum Thani (4), Prachinburi (4), Samut Prakan (3), Nakhon Nayok (3), Narathiwas (2), Pattani (2), Chonburi (2), Phetchaburi (2), Kanchanaburi (2), Ayutthaya (2), Roi Et (2), Nonthaburi (1), Sa Kaeo (1), Khon Kaen (1), Ubon Ratchathani (1), Kampangpetch (1), Nakhon Sawan (1), Chainat (1), Phitsanulok (1), Sukothai (1), and Nakhon Sri Thammarat (1). The age range was between 25 and 96 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, stroke, heart disease, obesity, and lung disease. One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient and about 14 others did not reportedly have any health conditions.
Of the new cases, 9,012 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,910 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 1,049 were from prisons, and the remaining 31 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,921, followed by Samut Sakhon with 932, Nonthaburi with 661, Samut Prakan with 656, Chonburi with 636, and Chachoengsao with 374.
A total number of 257,876 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 225,061 people had received their first shot and 32,815 people had received their second shots.
As of today, 8,248 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 439,477 cases with 304,456 recoveries and a total of 3,610 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
At today’s press briefing, the CCSA said they are currently considering the closure of ten more businesses and places in 13 provinces in the dark-red zone, including indoor and outdoor stadiums, swimming pools, sports fields, exhibition centers, public libraries, museums, child care centers and nurseries, barbershops, beauty salons, and public parks. This would include Chonburi, home of Pattaya, which is a maximum control (dark red) zone.
However, this is still under consideration. More details including the exact date of the implementation are not yet stated by the authorities.
