Thailand discovered a total of 17,699 daily Covid-19 infections with 165 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, marking another new record high, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, July 29th.
The fatalities were 94 men and 71 women from Bangkok (58), Samut Prakan (32), Pathum Thani (17), Nonthaburi (9), Samut Sakhon (6), Nakhon Pathom (5), Pattani (5), Narathiwas (4), Kanchanaburi (4), Chachoengsao (4), Phetchaburi (3), Nakhon Sawan (3), Nakhon Ratchasima (2), Roi Et (2), Chonburi (2), Rayong (2), Trat (1), Samut Songkram (1), Uthai Thani (1), Buriram (1), Ubon Ratchathani (1), Songkhla (1), and Ranong (1). The age range was between 21 and 106 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, obesity, stroke, lung disease, and heart disease. One of the fatalities was a pregnant woman and the other nine reportedly refused to reveal their health conditions.
Of the new cases, 14,782 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,609 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 261 were from prisons, and the remaining 17 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,963, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,172, Nakhon Pathom with 984, Chonburi with 982, Samut Prakan with 810, and Nonthaburi with 633.
A total number of 164,270 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 144,258 people had received their first shot and 20,012 people had received their second shots.
As of today, 9,798 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 561,030 cases with 370,492 recoveries and a total of 4,562 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
