Thai Narcotics Bureau announces three major drug arrests, confiscating more than 200 kilograms of crystal meth and 800 kilograms of marijuana

Bangkok –

Officials from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau and Royal Thai Police, today, August 13th, announced three major drug arrests and the confiscation of more than 200 kilograms of crystal meth and 800 kilograms of marijuana.

In the first case, a 47-year-old alleged drug smuggler, Pramote Meesip, along with 11 other suspects, were arrested at a gas station in Lampang province and the parking lot of a Tesco Lotus Department Store in Ayutthaya province with 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 17 mobile phones, and 7 vehicles.

The arrest followed a tip-off revealing that the group reportedly smuggled drugs from the northern region to sell in the central region of Thailand. All of them were charged with possession of category 1 narcotics before being taken for further investigation.

The second arrest involved a group of six suspects, led by Charoenchai Chaluaysang, 56, who was captured in Sakhon Nakhon province with 210 kilograms of marijuana, 3 cars and trucks, and 8 mobile phones, following the expanded investigation of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau. They were primarily charged with possession of category 5 narcotics (marijuana) for sale.

In the last case, Wanchalerm Chompuraya, 24, from Uthai Thani province, along with other four members were arrested at an intersection in Nong Bua Lamphu province with 610 kilograms of marijuana, 2 cars, and 5 mobile phones after police were being alerted that there would be a drug smuggling from the border into the country. All of them were charged with possession of category 5 narcotics (marijuana) and were taken to a police station for investigation.
