RECAP: Thailand announces 22,086 new cases of Covid -19 and 217 additional deaths

Thailand reported 21,813 new domestic cases of Covid-19 with 270 confirmed cases at prisons as well as 3 imported cases, marking a total of 22,086 daily infections, with 217 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

This makes a total of 856,412 cases of Covid-19 since the start of this recent round of infections in early April in Thailand.

Additionally, 640,130 people in total have now been released from medical care and fully recovered since this current wave began. 23,672 people were released yesterday. The chart below shows total cases and recoveries since the original outbreak last year, however.

Among 21,813 local new domestic cases, excluding the cases in the prisons, the highest number of infections listed by provinces was discovered in Bangkok with 5,088, Samut Sakorn with 1,819, Samut Prakan with 1,254, Chonburi with 1,254, and Nonthaburi with 867.

The fatalities were 130 men and 87 women (204 Thai, 10 Myanmars, 2 Cambodians, and 1 Swiss) aged between 20-94.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, high levels of fats in the blood, kidney disease, bedridden, strokes, and lung disease.

Two of them were pregnant while 29 of them did not reportedly have any health conditions.

A total of 23,192,491 doses of Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand have been given so far with 456,521 first doses given yesterday, 178,568-second doses, and 48,743 third doses.
