RECAP: Thailand finds 21,157 daily Covid-19 infections with 182 additional deaths, 162,511 new vaccinated people reported nationwide in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 21,157 daily Covid-19 infections with 182 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesperson Taweeslip Visanuyothin announced today, August 16th.

The fatalities were 104 men and 78 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 64. Of that, 176 were Thai nationals and six were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 19 and 95 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 16,863 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 3,630 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 658 were from prisons, and the remaining six were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 4,324, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,869, Chonburi with 1,223, Samut Prakan with 1,147, Nonthaburi with 790, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 547.

A total number of 162,511 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 117,620 people had received their first shots, 35,804 people had received their second shots, and 9,087 people had received their third shots.

As of today, 20,984 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 928,314 cases with 709,646 recoveries and a total of 7,734 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
