RECAP: Thailand finds 20,515 daily Covid-19 infections with 312 additional deaths, 518,118 new vaccinated people reported nationwide in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 20,515 daily Covid-19 infections with 312 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced today, August 18th.

The fatalities were 174 men and 138 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 78. Of that, 305 were Thai nationals, five were Myanmar nationals, one of each was Cambodia and British nationals. The age range was between 28 and 102 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 16,520 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 3,730 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 248 were from prisons, and the remaining 17 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 4,154, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,820, Samut Prakan with 1,335, Chonburi with 1,206, Nonthaburi with 756, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 719.

A total number of 518,118 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 355,408 people had received their first shots, 153,519 people had received their second shots, and 9,191 people had received their third shots.

As of today, 22,682 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 968,957 cases with 753,119 recoveries and a total of 8,285 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
