RECAP: Thailand reports 17,491 daily Covid-19 infections with 242 additional deaths, 206,820 new vaccinated people reported nationwide in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 17,491 daily Covid-19 infections with 242 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesperson Taweeslip Visanuyothin announced today, August 23rd.

The fatalities were 134 men and 108 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 79. Of that, 232 were Thai nationals, 7 were Myanmar nationals, one of each was Indian, Chinese, and Singapore nationals. The age range was between 20 and 99 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Seven of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 15,014 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,072 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 398 were from prisons, and the remaining seven were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,472, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,396, Samut Prakan with 1,296, Chonburi with 953, Nonthaburi with 781, and Ratchaburi with 565.

A total number of 206,820 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 157,857 people had received their first shots, 47,183 people had received their second shots, and 1,780 people had received their third shots.

As of today, 22,134 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,066,786 cases with 861,770 recoveries and a total of 9,562 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
