RECAP: Thailand announces 15,942 new cases of Covid -19 and 257 additional deaths

Thailand-

Thailand reported 15,936 new domestic cases of Covid-19 with 277 confirmed cases at prisons as well as 6 imported cases, marking a total of 15,942 daily infections, with 257 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

This makes a total of 1,236,219 cases of Covid-19 since the start of this recent round of infections in early April in Thailand.

Additionally, 1,069,891 people in total have now been released from medical care and fully recovered since this current wave began. 20,351 people were released yesterday. The chart below shows the total cases and recoveries since the original outbreak last year.

Among 15,936 local new domestic cases, excluding the cases in the prisons, the highest number of infections listed by provinces was discovered in Bangkok with 3,835, Samut Prakan with 1,570, Chonburi with 955, Samut Sakorn with 895, and Ratchaburi with 502.

The fatalities were 135 men and 122 women (254 Thais, 1 Myanmar nationals, and 2 Cambodians) aged between 2-100.

Fifty of them reportedly have chronic health problems. Twenty-five of them did not reportedly have any health conditions including a two-year-old baby in Tak province. One of them was pronounced at home in Bangkok, according to the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA.

Thailand had 925,627 vaccines given yesterday, with 375,914 first jabs, 546,043 second doses, and 3670 third doses-a new record!
