Thailand’s Meteorological Department forecasts thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rain over the next 7 days

The Thai Meteorological Department today, September 22th, reported 7-day weather forecasts of thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in Thailand from today through to the 27th of September.

In general, between September 21st – 24th, a monsoon trough lies across the lower North, the Central, the East, and the Northeast while a strengthening southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, resulting in likely thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rains over the country.

During the 25th – 27th, an active low-pressure cell over the South China Sea is forecast to move to middle Vietnam as well as move to follow the monsoon trough lying across the Central, the East, and the lower Northeast of Thailand, causing continuous rains with isolated heavy to very heavy rain over the country.

In northern Thailand, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are expected throughout the period with a minimum temperature of 22°C and a maximum temperature of 35°C.

In northeastern Thailand, Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers are forecast between September 21st and the 24th and isolated heavy to very heavy rain is expected during the 25th – the 26th with a minimum temperature of 22°C and a maximum temperature of 34°C.

In central provinces and the Bangkok Metropolitan area, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers are expected throughout the period while isolated heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for the 21st – the 22nd and the 25th – the 26th with a minimum temperature of 23°C and a maximum temperature of 34°C.

In eastern Thailand, which includes Chonburi and Pattaya, Fairly widespread thundershowers are expected throughout the period while isolated heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for the 21st – the 22nd and the 25th – the 26th. Waves are forecast to be about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers.

In southern provinces, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers throughout the period and isolated heavy rain are expected during the period. Waves are forecast to be about 1-2 meters and about 2 meters in thundershowers on the East coast while 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers are predicted on the West coast.

The department also warned people over the at-risk areas in the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East, and the South to beware of the severe conditions. All ships should proceed with caution and keep away from thundershowers areas.
